France’s “Fulenn”

France chose “Fulenn” by Alvan & Ahez through a national final.

“Fulenn” is sung in Breton, a language with Celtic roots still spoken in Brittany. (This is the first Eurovision contest ever that does not have a single entry from any country sung in French.)

As a Big 5 country, France is guaranteed a performance in the final.

Ursula’s Thoughts: I really enjoy this entry. In addition to the performance’s witchy vibe, the song fits in the techno-folk-rave genre that I have only been able to find in Eurovision and it is one of my absolute favorite style of entry. A little out there, but still with a steady beat which makes it danceable. The best of both worlds.

Christa’s Thoughts: I was very thrown off that France’s entry was not in French (even though it sometimes sounds like French?). That being said, I like it a lot. It gives off all the witchy vibes I didn’t know I needed. Double, double, toil and trouble.
