Germany chose Isaak’s “Always on the Run” through their national final, Das Deutsche Finale 2024. As part of the Big Five countries, Germany automatically has a spot in the final. However, for the first time, entries with guaranteed final spots will perform alongside other competitors in the semifinals. So although Isaak already has a spot in the final, he will be performing right after Iceland in the first semifinal (performing 8.5th if you will).
This song and performance is totally fine. It just feels so distinctly average and generic that we are ranking it this lowly. The chorus is catchy and Isaak has a nice voice. There is not really much else to say about this entry, or about Germany’s National Final – except that it had the second “cat song” of the season.

In conclusion, we do not expect Isaak to make much of a splash in May (plus, it’s Germany which has a history of getting 0 points). And this is what the Eurovision community gets for squandering the masterpiece that was Germany’s entry last year – Lord of the Lost’s “Blood and Glitter.” 🤦♀️
