Once again pulling off an impressive national final given the circumstances, Ukraine chose the band Ziferblat and their song “Bird of Pray.” Ziferblat will be performing 5th in the first semi final.
Last year, Ziferblat came in second in Ukraine’s national final with their song “Place I Call Home” losing out to Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil’s “Teresa & Maria.” “Bird of Pray” is definitely an improvement over their attempt last year.
This is a song where C and U’s personal preferences do not align. U likes the juxtaposition between the airy backing vocals and the heavier instrumentation and melody. It is a catchy song that weaves English and Ukrainian lyrics together. While probably not one of Ukraine’s strongest entries the past few years, that is a very high bar for this specific country. C thinks the song is fine, but the national final set design was pretty incredible.

This is also one of the six entries this year with siblings competing together. And this marks the third year in a row that a pair of twins represent a country in Eurovision.
Ukraine has a 100% qualification streak, so we will have to see if Ziferblat has what it takes to continue their country’s appearance in the Grand Final.
