11. Montenegro: “Dobrodošli” – Nina Žižić

Montenegro returns after a three year absence from the contest with Nina Žižić’s “Dobrodošli” . Nina Žižić will perform second in the second semifinal.

In the first national final of the season, way back in November, Montenegro set the tone of a chaotic national final season when their national final winner Neonoen’s song “Clickbait” was disqualified due to the song having been performed the previous year. After their disqualification, Montenegro offered the Eurovision spot to “Dobrodošli” as the runner-up.

This song has an epic quality from the instrumentation to the powerful vocal melody. Nina’s incredible voice and stage presence transfixes and draws in her audience. You don’t need to know a word of Montenegrin to feel the intense emotion of this ballad.

(As a side note, every time U hears the start of this song, she is reminded of Kpop group Infinite’s song “Back”)

This is not Nina’s first time at Eurovision. She competed in 2013 as part of a trio with the song “Igranka” that included two astronaut suits and a distinctly 2010’s cyberpunk aesthetic. “Dobrodošli” gives off a very different vibe than this previous entry.

Hopefully, Nina Žižić will be able to sing for Montenegro in the Grand Final this time around.
