It’s Eurovision Week!

Welcome to Eurovision Week 2024! The moment has come. The time has arrived. And we are so honored and excited to be your guides through the next 7 days!

Here is what you can expect this week, with a few links to where you can find out more about the specifics:

Sunday, May 5th – The Turquoise Carpet
(It already happened at 6:30am PT today.) This is Eurovision’s “red” carpet opening event where each country’s representatives dress up to the nines and do interviews to mark the start of the Eurovision Week. Think of it like the Oscars red carpet. We are excited to report back to you with our opinions on best and worst dressed, etc. – coming soon! 😎

Tuesday, May 7th – Semi Final 1
The first live competition of the week. 15 countries will compete for 10 spots in the Grand Final. (And the UK, Germany, and Sweden will perform, too.)

Thursday May 9th – Semi Final 2
The second live competition of the week. 16 countries will compete for the remaining 10 spots in the Grand Final. (And France, Spain, and Italy will perform, too.)

Saturday May 11th – The Grand Final
The final live competition of the week. The moment we’ve all been waiting for. 26 countries will compete for the famous microphone trophy, and we find out who will win the Eurovision Song Contest 2024!

A Brief Guide:

Where can I watch Eurovision?
In the United States, you can watch Eurovision on Peacock (just search “Eurovision”) with a premium subscription which costs $5.99/month. (However… you can use a VPN to watch the Eurovision livestream on Youtube, which is what we’d recommend.)

Can I vote in Eurovision?
YES! As of last year, the EBU added a “Rest of the World” category so that all of us who aren’t lucky enough to be in Europe or Australia can vote for our favorites. All of the votes from the rest of the world are combined into “one country” when it comes to counting the televote points.

How do I vote?
Download the Eurovision app! Which is available on iOS and Android. For each contest, you can vote up to 20 times, but each vote will cost you €0.99 which is about $1.07.

How can I best prepare for the GREATEST television EVENT of the YEAR?
We’re so glad you asked! ;) Of course, you can read through our blog, but we know there’s a lot, and it’s hard to keep track of it all. So, you can listen to the 37 songs on Spotify and/or you can watch this Youtube playlist of official music videos. Lastly, you can download the very helpful My Eurovision Scoreboard app (on iOS or on Android) which will allow you to easily rank the all the entries for free, or you can pay $1.99 to be able to rank each of the semi-finals specifically.

There are 37 countries participating in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, which is composed of two Semi-Finals, and one Grand Final Competition. Six of these countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, and Sweden) will automatically advance to the Finals. The first 5 pre-qualify because of their status with the European Broadcasting Union (money they give the EBU), and Sweden qualifies because they are the host country this year.

The remaining 31 countries are split into the two Semi-Finals, which will take place on May 7th and May 9th, respectively. As a new treat, we will also see the guaranteed finalists’ live performances during the semi-finals as well (because Sweden wanted to be special), but we won’t be voting for them yet.
