We’re starting out with our least favorite one of the 37 songs. Sorry, Portugal.
Through their national final show, Festival da Canção 2025, Portugal selected Napa and their song “Deslocado.” Napa will perform 7th in the first semi-final.
The band, Napa, is from the Portuguese island of Madeira. The song title means “Displaced” in English and it is about the singer/band’s desire to go home, to the “middle of the sea… To my home, island, peace, Madeira” (translation by eurovisionworld.com).

The performance was decidedly underwhelming in our opinion, with the most exciting part being either the kick (blink and you’ll miss it) or the guitar solo (which of course won’t be performed live, per Eurovision rules).
Did you see it?
Truly, the song is fine. It’s a pleasant indie bop that kind of maybe reminds C of a Mika song – a B-side Mika song.
It is pretty generic and forgettable. It’s also just not a genre that either of us particularly gravitate towards. And there are so many better songs to listen to this year. We don’t need to follow Eurovision to find a song that sounds like this.
But, if it’s not a bad song, why is it at the bottom of our list? Well, there are other songs this year that we actually like less than this one, but none of them are quite so forgettable.
And, Portugal had much more interesting options to choose from at their song contest, too! (Like “I Wanna Destroy U” – which won first place in audience votes, but got ZERO points from the jury…)
So in conclusion, “Deslocado” is a fine song; there’s really nothing wrong with it. It’s just a little boring. But hey, Portugal won by a landslide in 2017 with a song that U&C thought was extremely boring and didn’t stand a chance. So… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
